picture, if you will, a lone rider on the plane he's got eyes like a hawk, in his hands he holds the reins but he knows not where he's supposed to ride to still he rides on without a clue and he has no fear the end is near in the cold, into the wind, he wraps his scarf around his chin he bristles while he glares into the darkness with a hidden grin the rain is pouring to the ground the thunder makes a deafening sound he shakes his fists and shouts, you can do better than this there is no end just what's next around the bend on the day the fire burned he rolled around in the embers cackling like a wild animal with ticks beneath its fur his horse vanished with the smoke the rider just laughed at the joke and so he stood and walked on into the woods onward through the mountain snow where no man ever dared to go a creature from the great below reared his head and blocked the road a lesser man would've tried to run but the rider procured his gun he aimed for the head and shot that demon dead there is no end just what's next around the bend if you listen close, you'll hear the echoes of his ghost laughing madly through the night but never coming into sight it's a sound that will chill your bones while you were busy skipping stones the city raged and silently turned the page it's the same now as it was then, everyone's waiting for the end that moment when we make amends and put it all together again like somehow we got off course like somehow we lost our horse but the river bends and so it will bend again there is no end just what's next around the bend

i could live my whole life as a dream and so it seems i may i could slowly fade away and never look back, i'd be okay you could talk about the president what went wrong, should we repent you could tell me how things should be but it doesn't matter that much to me i should've known, i couldn't wait the line was cast i was weak, i took the bait i couldn't last so nice to be upon this rock punching the hours on the clock any man can tell you where his mind goes when the lights are off and the doors are closed gently down the stream life is but a dream i should've known, i couldn't wait the line was cast i was weak, i took the bait i couldn't last gently down the stream life is but a dream

power lines runnin' through the alleyway crackheads screamin' through the night the ambulance symphony plays for me nothing' wrong, nothing's right the state building down the street mothership for the meek days turn to weeks while the buildings creek corporate store on the corner busy people move their feet the wind blows through the window this room is empty and bleak the cars honk, the traffic is thick a ragged madman throws a fit the lights are plugged in, but no one flips the switch doesn't everyone want to be loved by somebody what happens to those who never find it? some of us are bound to fall, to never hear the call of love when it comes callin' i pray to god i'll listen when she speaks i pray the lord my soul to keep 'til then i'll wait and wander through the days what do they do, where do they go? for whom do you suppose they fight? why try to stay alive when there's no end in sight? still the same faces appear year after endless year and nobody questions what they're doing here doesn't everyone want to be loved by somebody what happens to those who never find it? some of us are bound to fall, to never hear the call of love when it comes callin' i pray the lord i'll listen when she speaks i pray the lord my soul to keep 'til then i'll wait and wander through the days

anyone can write a song everyone can sing along but it don't make me feel any less empty what's good for you ain't always good for me pray for better days, pray for your escape everybody runs, nobody gets away there must be a way to break out of this space but there's no words to say everybody here is frozen in place any kid can be president even those whose lives were spent suckin' down juice in the alleyway everybody's soul can be saved pray for better days, pray for your escape everybody runs, nobody gets away there must be a way to break out of this space but there's no words to say everybody here is frozen in place you can be what you want to be everything equals anything it's a blank slate and you can paint what you please as long as you never disagree pray for better days, pray for your escape everybody runs, nobody gets away there must be a way to break out of this space but there's no words to say everybody here is frozen in place anyone can write a song everyone can sing along

i'm always sayin' i could never change i'm always sayin' it's bound to end one way hand on my heart and a foot in the grave oh, what a pretty life i lead these days i'm always fightin' with a ball n chain i try to shake it off, but it always remains i wanna loosen my grip on the reins throw it all away and leave this place i wanna leave this place i'm always fightin' with a broken heart i carried it around from the very start but it's not such a tragedy what was never there could never be taken from me a buck short and a day too late i try to be patient, but i can never wait i wanna shake it up and shock my brain throw it all away and leave this place i wanna leave this place i could try to ease the weight but in my mind, i know my fate we're just a rock floating through space i wanna, i wanna leave this place i never knew what i was meant to be so i created my own reality now i can't tell the difference between what's real and what's inside my dreams i wanna dance, i wanna play i wanna stick it to the stars and fuck with fate i wanna burn it down and watch the flames throw it all away and leave this place i could try to ease the weight but in my mind, i know my fate we're just a rock floating through space i wanna, i wanna leave this place

about

In the words of Baudelaire's famous mistranslation of Edgard Allen Poe: "Go Fuck Thyself, World"

Ben Foerg lives by this credo, and his music reflects such an attitude. Defiantly resilient and meekly conciliatory, Foerg is a man of contradiction and fantasy.

On this EP, Foerg has shifted gears from folk troubadour to internet vagabond, his acoustic guitar replaced with a synthesizer, his cajon a drum machine. Is Foerg hopping on the bandwagon of lo-fi indie garage-pop that acts such as Kurt Vile & American Wrestlers rode to fame and glory?

Hell no. He's blazing his own trail, a rock n roll lumberjack felling the mighty oak of post-modern garbage and carpentering it into an ergonomic form built just for you. So strap in and listen to his bellows, oh ye lonesome ones. Daddy's coming home.

Ride along with him, dear listener. Feel what he feels. Hear what he expresses. Smell what he dealt. Get yourself fucked, world.
